Included in this volume is Joseph Rawson Lumby's editorial introduction, essentially a précis of the text in which he details expansions upon and divergences from Knighton's sources as well as instances of independent authority. Lumby (1831-95) has been criticised for oversights, errors and omissions. Nevertheless, his detailed contents and marginalia make the Latin text more accessible to the modern reader.
