Apparently,the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and refugees were voluntarily repatriated from the north as well as neighbouring Countries. Upon arrival in Juba, however, the returnees are faced with harsh living conditions, including lack of food and shelter. This resulted in absolute neglect of some children who later had no option but resorted to roaming the streets in struggle for survival. Evidently, these children have in many ways involved in committing both petty and serious crimes. Therefore, this book, Child Neglect and crimes in Southern Sudan: An Investigation of the Causes of Child Neglect in Juba, explores the causes of that neglect and then recommends possible preventive measures. Overall, this book provides fascinating insights into major causes of child neglect in South Sudan and the possible mitigation strategies.
