With the help of his two generals Santaji Ghorpade and Dhanaji Jadhav and two administrators Ramchandra Nilkanth and Shankaraji Narayan he out-witted, out maneuvered and defeated the Mughal armies for ten years. He died in 1700, but his widow Tararani fought Aurangzeb till he died in 1707.
