Like other nursing specialties, gerontological nursing necessitates an understanding of the physiological changes associated with aging, keen assessment and monitoring skills, extensive knowledge of aging conditions, care implementations, and comprehensive knowledge of established standards and principles of geriatric care. It includes instructional materials that are beneficial to both the instructor and the students to facilitate instruction and learning.
