Nikon took over production and sold it as the Nikonos, which subsequently became a well-known series of underwater cameras.The Calypso has a built-in optical viewfinder and an accessory shoe on the top for a wide-angle viewfinder frame. It consists of two body parts that are locked together by the lens. It is sealed by Vaseline greased O-rings. In order to disassemble the camera, the lens must be removed by gently pulling it away from the body while twisting it either way a quarter turn.
