The response of the American company ITT was quick on the Chilean decision makers, especially the socialist president Allende, represented by the military coup against democracy led by General Augusto Pinochet. We are currently seeing US intervention in Venezuela to ensure the flow of Venezuelan oil to lower cost US companies and acquire long-term contracts, and the same in the Middle East and the Republic of Georgia and Ukraine.
