This is a fascinating book because the author himself is so fascinating as a person and a preacher. It is fun and exciting to read because James McReynolds is such an eclectic thinker. I doubt if he ever starts a page knowing where it will take him; he simply starts writing and lets the thoughts transport him wherever they will. Happily, his thoughts fall all over the place, like seeds blown about by a beautiful wind, and invariably impregnate the soil around them with carefully chosen quotations, allusions and random ideas. I frankly have known of no other writer, preacher, teacher, counselor...
