Tonya Dalhaus is a writer, photographer, and arts advocate based in Florida. She serves as President of Emerald Coast Writers and is the founding event director of the Books By the Bay literary festival. A former stand-up comedian and university instructor in public speaking, Tonya brings humor, empathy, and narrative precision to her work across genres.Her creative projects span children's literature, screenwriting, and visual storytelling. She is currently developing a picture book series exploring themes like sharing and identity through the adventures of two house chickens, and recently completed a gallery exhibit highlighting the emotional depth and sentience of poultry through photography.Tonya is passionate about community engagement and supporting emerging voices. She has led numerous arts collaborations, secured grants, and launched storytelling initiatives that blend writing with other creative disciplines. Whether crafting a comedic short or designing an immersive photo installation, her work invites audiences to see the world-feathered or otherwise-with fresh eyes.
