Jansen and Jones togetehr have written two previous books, Spreadin' Rhythm Around: Black PopularSongwriters 1880-1930 , a winner of the ASCAP/Deems Taylor Award for best music book, and That American Rag:The Story of Ragtime from Coast to Coast .
