Linda is a born and raised United Methodist minister, the daughter of retired elder Rev. S. Renée Franklin and retired teacher Victor L. Franklin Sr. Throughout her life she has been deeply involved as a layperson in the denomination from her youth in leadership and participation in conference-wide youth events, jurisdictional level ministry such as with the Southeastern Jurisdiction Harambee events of Black Methodists for Church Renewal, nationally through her involvement in many groups including as a student participant in the United Methodist Student Movement, a fellow of the Bishop Melvin Talbert Leadership Institute, and as a General Agency staffer for over 9 years with The Upper Room at Discipleship Ministries (GBOD). Creative and ministry pursuits have always been part of Linda's journey in life and ministry even from her teenage years. She has been able to develop the gifts and graces afforded to her and thrive in physical and digital landscapes of ministry with a heart for the creative and a spirit of excellence for over two decades. After serving as the Minister of Worship, Arts, and Media for McKendree UMC in downtown Nashville, TN, Linda began to serve in pastoral ministry as a lay supply pastor then licensed local pastor and continues in the process toward ordination as a Deacon in The United Methodist Church.Whether in her many years and roles of service as a United Methodist or in her own home as wife of elder Rev. Jefferson Furtado, and mother of 3 daughters, Linda thrives by being a creative force for spiritual formation and learning. Whatever her pursuits, she works to build holistic ways of being Christian with a wide scope of possibility and depth in both understanding and execution. She brings a mind that makes even the most challenging theological concepts, including those that she is gaining while earning a Master of Arts and Christian Ministries degree in her studies at Asbury Theological Seminary, into tangible and practical resources for building up God's kingdom and kin-dom on earth.
