The main content of the book is the metal-ligand chemistry and focus is on the Organometallic Compounds, Metal Carbonyls and Metal Carbonyl Clusters, their chemical and physical characteristics, preparation, classifications, identifications and applications. Chapter 1 describes the core information about the organometallic compounds of main group metals, transition metals and lanthanide metals, the difference between -bonded and -bonded organometallic compounds, bonding between metal and organic ligand followed by backbonding concept, calculations of 18 electron and effective atomic number, ch...
The main content of the book is the metal-ligand chemistry and focus is on the Organometallic Compounds, Metal Carbonyls and Metal Carbonyl Clusters, their chemical and physical characteristics, preparation, classifications, identifications and applications. Chapter 1 describes the core information about the organometallic compounds of main group metals, transition metals and lanthanide metals, the difference between -bonded and -bonded organometallic compounds, bonding between metal and organic ligand followed by backbonding concept, calculations of 18 electron and effective atomic number, chemistry of metallocene (i.e. ferrocene, nickelocene etc.). Chapter 2 is about metal carbonyls, their classification, structural determination with the help of bonding, hybridisation and molecular orbital diagrams, the infrared frequency change in free and metal bonded CO. Chapter 3 contains the information about metal carbonyl clusters, their structural elucidation through electron counting methods (i.e. total electron count (TEC), polyhedral electron count (PEC)), the number of metal-metal bonds between metals in cluster and number of metal-metal bonds per metal present in the cluster.
