Hence Dentistry was specially taken up at postgraduate level. Naturally, every 'Dantashastrajnya' i.e. Dentist was well versed with ayurvedic medicine and surgery. As local measures and surgical treatment constitute important therapeutic measure, Dantshashtra was a surgical sub speciality.
