The highest infested plants and leaves were found in the check variety BINADESHIPAT-2 and the lowest were observed in the mutants C-26 and CM-84 in the field. The mutants CM-84, CM-74, CM-70, CM-66, CM-96, C-443 and CM-101 were graded as highly susceptible and C-26 was moderately susceptible to jute hairy caterpillar. In case of jute stem weevil, infestations were comparatively low in C-26, except CM-70. Number of knots per plant was highest in BINADESHIPAT-2. All of the mutants/varieties were showed moderate resistant to jute stem weevil. More number of knots was found at the heights of 31-60 and 61-90 cm. However, injute yellow mite, mutants performed better in comparison to BINADESHIPAT-2.
