Half of the population (52%) had no previous training in hepatitis C. The majority of nurses mentioned that the causative agent was a virus. Regarding preventive practices, the majority of nurses respected hand washing (86%), wearing gloves (82%) and masks (66%), and not recapping needles (86%). However, there was a lack of knowledge of treatment (62%), which confirms that nurses are unfamiliar with certain details that require awareness-raising and training to improve management.
