Chapter 2 presents a critical review on the recent philosophies in the area of Automatic Generation Control. Chapter 3 deals with Load Frequency Control (LFC) of single area and multi-area power system was discussed. Chapter 4 gives the step by step procedure for design of PID controller using various tuning techniques such as formal Ziegler Nichols, Improved Ziegler Nichols, Ant Colony Optimization and Pattern search Algorithm. Chapter 5 gives the MATLAB simulation results of the dynamic responses of studied electric system in the form of plots. The conclusions of the research work and scope for further work are given in Chapter 6. Finally, the thesis was completed with references and an Appendix-I showing the nominal values of electric system parameters.
