Solomon Yilma è nato a Inkufitu, nel distretto di Jarsso (dove nacque l'imperatore Hile Selassie I) della zona orientale di Hararghe della regione di Oromia, in Etiopia, nel 1963. L'autore ha conseguito la laurea in Statistica presso l'Università di Addis Abeba, in Etiopia, nel 1986 e la laurea in Scienze della Formazione Continua presso la Indira Gandhi National Open University nel 2016.
