This book consists of research work duly carried out by Ms. Chaitaliben H. Patel at Babaria Institute of Pharmacy, Vadodara. An attempt was made to investigate the antidiarrhoeal activity of Punica granatum L. (Pomegranate) fruit juice concentrate. Diarrhoea is associated with hypersecretion and increased intestinal motility or inflammation where release of prostaglandin is cause of diarrhoea. Punica granatum L. (Pomegranate) fruit juice concentrate was found to possess significant antidiarrhoeal activity against castor oil induced diarrhoea model in rats. The spasmolytic activity of pomegranate juice concentrate against various spasmogens observed in the present study can be attributed to its antidiarrhoeal activity.
