The present study was carried out to investigate antiulcer activity of aqueous extract of Ficus bengalensis leaf in pylorus ligation, alcohol induced, aspirin induced and stress induced ulcers (CRS) in the rats. The anti ulcer activity was assessed by determining and comparing the ulcer index in the test drug groups with that of the vehicle control and standard ranitidine & sucralfate.The findings of the present study explored the antioxidant potential of the plant extract by 1,I-diphenyl, 2-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity, hydroxyl radical scavenging activity, reducing capacity and hydrogen peroxide activity.The reducing capacity of a compound may serve as a significant indicator of its potential antioxidant activity.
