This study is designed to explore anti-inflammatory potential of Aegiceras corniculatum and its mechanism of action against various pro-inflammatory mediators. Rat paw edema and peritonitis model(s) were employed for in vivo studies and for in vitro study human platelets and rat neutrophils were stimulated with Ca+2-ionophore for production of inflammatory metabolites of Cyclooxygenase-I and Lipoxygenases pathways. Methanol extract constituting lignans and saponins caused ~90% reduction in carrageenan and PGE2 -induced paw edema in rats and COX-I metabolites 12-HHT in human platelets. Hexane e...
