She is best known for finishing third in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain where she finished behind two athletes representing the Commonwealth of Independent States, Yelena Romanova and Tatyana Samolenko-Dorovskikh. She first appeared on the international stage in 1985 in Kobe, Japan at the Universiade where she finished third. The following year in Arizona she won the NCAA Div1 Cross Country Championships for the University of Northern Arizona. This was followed in 1987 with a second place at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis.
