Masonry is a composite material, and it has commonly been used to build a traditional type of structures throughout the world for decades. The design of masonry structures was uneconomical because the thickness of walls was very large and there was not a standard code which can provide the appropriate design for masonry structures. So, with development of countries and according to the important role of the behaviour of masonry components, there are significant studies which deal with different issues to assess the characteristic properties of masonry structures under different conditions. Therefore, this work examines different aspects about the masonry structures through considering different studies about the behaviour of masonry structures under different actions. Also, it illustrates the significant role of different studies to provide the conservative basis for the design codes, in particular Eurocode 6. Moreover, by considering the different issues which affect the masonrystructures in practice are very important to avoid the mistakes which can affect the strengths of masonry structures.
