Indeed Hippocrates, father of the medicine, used wine as an integral part of his medications and recommended its use as a diuretic and general antiseptic. Gender Vitis and its 700 different kind of species in particular Vitis vinifera of interest for wine producers. Vitis vinifera originated from the south of the Black Sea where it is cultivated by Transcaucasia. For the first time the cultivation of grapes is mentioned in the Bible (Genesis IX, xviii).
