The differences in the way of ageing between rural and urban areas (to simplify it into two areas) are more than notable, but if we add another variable of interest to this study, such as gender, the analysis becomes more complex but necessary. There is a lack of gender perspective that influences the fact that certain measures, programmes or interventions do not obtain the expected effectiveness in both groups equally, and therefore, ageing is not one hundred percent successful. This document seeks to understand these differences, how many women live and survive in rural areas characterised mainly by alack of social and economic resources; and above all, whether there are equal opportunities for both sexes to age actively.
