The types of followers can be classified according to the surface in contact, the motion of the follower and the path of motion of the follower and Cams also can be classified as per the motion required whether osculating or translating. The basic motions of the follower, during its travel, may have one of the following motions simple harmonic motion (SHM), motion with uniform acceleration and deceleration and motion with uniform velocity and each motion is analyzed in detail.
