A major motivation of this symposium was to bring together researchers in the various branches of the ceramic community in order to seek out common approaches to the study of ceramics science and engineering. The goal was then to develop the most effective blend of expertise, in experimental, theoretical and computational activities as applied to various ceramic systems, in order to maximize the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge.
