The research evaluates adherence to treatment and control of systemic arterial hypertension (AHT) in patients of the Ambulatorio Urbano Tipo II "Dr. Ramón E. Gualdrón", Barquisimeto. Venezuela. The female sex predominated (62.35%), and barriers to non-pharmacological adherence were highlighted: only 31.76% complied with all the recommendations (low-sodium diet, physical activity, no smoking and moderate alcohol consumption). In contrast, 85.71% complied with pharmacological treatment. However, few achieved blood pressure figures within the recommended goals. The main limitations were sedentary lifestyle and lack of knowledge about healthy lifestyles. We recommend strengthening health education, personalizing follow-up, promoting physical activity, improving access to health resources, and raising community awareness through educational campaigns. These efforts seek to increase adherence to treatment and optimize control of HT to reduce cardiovascular complications.
