Today cancer is the most deadly disease on our planet. It strikes young and old of all nations leaving tragic suffering and pain. The goal is to find a new hope for cancer patients and make use of natural resources to find a cure for this disease. Our study on two Egyptian desert plants which are Calligonum comosum and Acacia nilotica, revealed that they possess a strong antioxidant and cytotoxic activity, so further phytochemical investigation of both plants was carried out to specify their bioactive fractions and isolate the major compounds.

Mohamed R Akl is an Assistant Lecturer and a researcher of Pharmacognosy and natural products chemistry in Mansoura University, Egypt, and a Teaching Assistant and researcher of Pharmacology in University of Louisiana at Monroe, USA. He is interested in studying the anticancer effects of natural products from plants.
