He was especially interested in the doctrines of the Methodist Church. He searched to find out how Rev. John Wesley, a founder of the Methodist Church, justified the Twenty-Five Articles of Religion, which laid the foundation of Methodist theology. He selected these articles of faith from the Anglican Church of Britain and prescribed them for the Methodist Church in Great Britain and in North America. Rev. John Wesley upheld these articles of faith on the basis of the Bible. He explained these articles with reference to the word of God.
