Imelda Argel, LLB, LLM, author, lawyer and mother hails from a family of lawyers in the Philippines. She was admitted to practice law in three jurisdictions: The Philippines, Australia and the State of New York, USA. One of her significant achievements was the Australian government's recognition of passing the Philippine Professional Board Examinations as a qualification equivalent to an Australian degree. She is a recipient of the Philippine Presidential Award, First New South Wales Filipino Australian Women's Achievement Award (FAWAA), University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAAA - NSW Chapter) Award for Community Service and Practice of Law and Plaques of Recognition from the Legal Management Council of the Philippines (LMCP). While she was in legal practice in Sydney, she was a columnist on Australian immigration and a regular guest of SBS Filipino Program. She lives in the Northern Beaches of New South Wales, Australia with her new partner.
