In conformity to the act of the Congress of the United States, entitled "an act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts, and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies, during the times herein mentioned." JESSE GOVE, Clerk of the District of Vermont. A true copy of record, examined and sealed by me, J. GOVE, Clerk. This history includes geography, flora and fauna, discovery, Indian tribes, surrender of Canada to Great Britain, civil policy from 1760 to 1775, first settlement, controversy and claims of New Hampshire and New York and Massachusetts, establishment of state boundaries, the floods of 1811 and 1830, the War of 1812, and the unusually cold summer of 1816. It also gives an overview of counties, towns, the courts, revenue and expenses of the government, population tables, banks, militia, colleges, and religion. An index to names completes this work.
