The content of this book was written in 2009 in a journal to my son Derek. This was my response to his request for whatever advice I might be able to share with him in regards to becoming a father. I have simply gathered here a collection of my thoughts and feelings based on my own experiences, my observations along the way, and my instincts. I have simply gathered here a collection of my thoughts and feelings based on my own experiences, my observations along the way, and my instincts. I do not recall giving much thought or concern to the prospect of becoming a father. I simply accepted that I was chosen to do so. Of course, I hold my own influences of family and society, of both the subtle and the not so subtle variety. All I knew for sure was that I felt chosen to be a parent, I would just do my very best, and felt confident that would be sufficient, simply allowing myself to be guided by my own intuition along the way.
