We must let the world know that we love ourselves and that love will teach other people how to love us in return,and if the world doesn't love us, at least by our appearance they will respect us. When we hold ourselves to a high standard, nobody has the power to lower that standard. We hold the power. We are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and in the words of one of my favorite pastors "If God is our Father; we should look like Him!"
