The impact of Charles E. Curran's thinking on contemporary ethical issues has been extensive, commanding popular attention and scholarly analysis from an international readership. Yet remarkably little has been written of the ethical method which Curran employs to arrive at his conclusions.
This dissertation is an exposition and assessment of his four step method in moral theology. To test whether Curran's own thinking actually follows these stages, Grecco applies the four step procedure to Curran's "Theology of Compromise". There result some fascinating problems, suggestions and questions for those engaged in the methodology of theological ethics.

"This study is by far the best thing written on Curran's much quoted theology of Compromise." (Andre Guindon, St. Paul University, Ottawa)
"The principle merit of Grecco's thesis lies not in its concern with the development of Charles Curran's thought, but in the quite successful systematic reconstruction of scattered methodological elements in his writings, and in their interpretation." (Bela Somfai, Regis College, Toronto)
"Grecco's research is thorough and exhaustive...much more than a summation and critique, it is a theological interpretation." (Thomas Dailey, St. Joseph's College Centre for Ethics in Health Care, Edmonton)
"G.'s work helps us to appreciate the many contributions Curran has made to the renewal and development of Catholic moral theology." (Richard M. Gula, S.S., Theological Studies)
"...un libro muy interesante que tiene como colofón una basta bibliografía. Es de destacar también la estupenda presentación y encuadernación de la obra." (Juan Carlos López, Mayéutica)
