Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Radio Plymouth is a brand new independent commercial radio station broadcasting from the Devon city of Plymouth. It was launched at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday 28 February 2010 by Television presenter Philip Schofield, who is an investor in the station. The first song played was Bruce Hornsby and the Range - The way it is. Former Orchard FM and now Radio Plymouth''s station manager and mid-morning presenter Tim Manns also welcomed listeners to the new station, for the start of a special two hour welcome show which featured the presenters who are part of the line-up. Initially, five companies applied for the licence in December 2005. Originally, the licence was won by London based company Macquarie backed with Australian cash under the name of Diamond FM in March 2006. Less than two years later, the station failed to launch and the licence was given back to OFCOM. When the licence was readvertised, two companies applied, but Radio Plymouth won against UKRD''s plan to extend its existing Cornwall station - Pirate FM.
