Autorenporträt
After retiring from a career as a medical laboratory technologist, Edith Hawkins was ready to expand her love of photography and gardening, as well as pursue new challenges, one of which was the writing of children's books. Having no children of her own, Edith was inspired to write a children's story after reading numerous books to her nieces and nephews over the years. Drawing on experiences from her past and the many adventures shared with family and the countless number of kindergarten students that she taught in Sunday school, Kate and JR were born. Edith grew up and still lives in rural South Carolina near Lake Murray, where she relishes the fact that within two or three hours she can be walking on a sandy beach or viewing the spectacular hues of fall in the mountains.
