Judy Blume, geb. 1938, studierte Pädagogik an der New York University. Schon bald nach ihrem Studienabschluss begann sie zu schreiben, 1969 veröffentlichte sie ihr erstes Buch. Zunächst war sie vor allem als Autorin von Kinderbüchern sehr erfolgreich - sie erhielt zahlreiche Preise auf diesem Sektor -, doch inzwischen hat sie sich auch in der Welt der Erwachsenenliteratur etabliert.
