Helen Fairbairn is a full-time writer of outdoor activity guides. Her books include Northern Ireland: A Walking Guide (2012), Dublin & Wicklow: A Walking Guide (2014), Ireland's Best Walks (2014) and Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way: A Walking Guide (2016). She has also written Lonely Planet guidebooks to the Rocky Mountains and the European Alps. She lives in County Sligo with her two children and husband, the acclaimed landscape photographer Gareth McCormack, who supplied the imagery for this book (garethmccormack.com).
