The Editors: Frank J. Coppa is Professor of History at St. John's University and Margherita Repetto-Alaia is a lecturer in the Italian Department at Columbia University. Dr. Coppa, the editor-in-chief of the Dictionary of Modern Italian History, has recently published The Origins of the Italian Wars of Independence (1992).
Dr. Repetto-Alaia, who served on the Executive Committee of the Union of Italian Women, is co-editor of UDI: Laboratorio de politica delle donne. The co-editors are both past chairmen of the Columbia University Seminar on Modern Italy and authors of a series of articles and monographs on Modern Italy.
