Julia Donaldson has written some of the world's best-loved children's books, including modern classics The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child, which together have sold over 25 million copies worldwide and have been translated into over one hundred languages. Her other books include Room on the Broom, Stick Man and Zog, illustrated by Axel Scheffler, The Hospital Dog, illustrated by Sara Ogilvie and the hugely successful What the Ladybird Heard adventures, illustrated by Lydia Monks. Julia also writes fiction, including the Princess Mirror-Belle series, illustrated by Lydia Monks, as well as poems, plays and songs - and her brilliant live shows are always in demand. She was the UK Children's Laureate 2011-13 and has been honoured with a CBE for Services to Literature. Julia and her husband Malcolm divide their time between West Sussex and Edinburgh.

Buch. Manche Bücher liest man lieber alleine, andere liest man gemeinsam, und manchmal liest man Bücher vor, für die man eigentlich schon viel zu groß ist, die die kleinen Geschwister aber gern hören wollen - und hat selbst viel Spaß dabei. "Der Grüffelo" von Axel Scheffler und Julia Donaldson ist so ein Fall, das Buch gibt es bereits seit gut zehn Jahren, aber es findet immer wieder begeisterte Leser. Jetzt erscheint eine neue Ausgabe für alle, die die Geschichte von der schlauen Maus und den vielen Tieren, die sie auffressen wollen, nicht nur lesen oder vorlesen, sondern auch vorspielen wollen: als Pop-up-Theaterbuch. Es enthält die normale Geschichte mit den Zeichnungen, aber auch ein komplettes Papiertheater mit Bühne und sämtlichen Figuren, dazu ein Textheft mit dem Theaterstück und weitere Tipps von der Autorin Julia Donaldson für eine gelungene Theaterpremiere. Noch besser ist es natürlich, wenn man sich mit den Figuren ein neues Grüffelo-Stück ausdenkt. Oder neue Figuren bastelt für ein ganz neues Stück.
