Produktbeschreibung
Nonlinear optical techniques are now recognized as the most efficient means available to generate laser radiation at wavelengths that are presently inaccessible via conventional sources. This technology uses nonlinear optical crystals for the frequency conversion of laser light. The book contains the most complete and up to date reference material on properties of nonlinear optical crystals, describes their applications, both traditional and specific, and provides the main mathematical formulas necessary for the calculation of the frequency conversion process. It is a vital source of information for scientists and engineers dealing with modern applications of nonlinear optical crystals in quantum electronics, optoelectronics and laser physics. TOC:Introduction.- Basic Nonlinear Optical Crystals.- Main Infrared Materials.- Often Used Crystals.- Periodically-poled Crystals and "Wafer" Materials.- Newly-developed and Perspective Crystals.- Self-frequency-doubling Crystals.- Rare-used and Archive Crystals.- Some Recent Applications.- Concluding Remarks.- Abbreviations.- Appendix.- Subject Index.

Autorenporträt
The author has more than 30 years experience in nonlinear optics, laser physics and quantum electronics. He has published more than 120 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 5 books and 7 book chapters. His first review on nonlinear optical crystals was published in 1977 (Sov.J.Quantum Electronics, vol.4, pp. 5-26) and the twenty years later selected as a MILESTONE publication (see SPIE Milestone Series, vol MS140, Selected Papers on Optical Parametric Oscillators and Amplifiers and Their Applications, ed. by J.H.Hunt, pp.191-203, 1997).
