Der Band bündelt exemplarische Zugänge zur Konfliktgeschichte der Religionen und Kulturen. Die Beiträge aus Geschichte, Germanistik, Kunst- und Rechtsgeschichte, Judaistik u.a. Disziplinen behandeln neben konzeptionellen Überlegungen zur Wahrnehmungsgeschichte im Spätmittelalter und in der frühen Neuzeit vor allem Interpretationen der außereuropäischen Fremdreligionen, des Heidnischen in der eigenen europäischen Tradition sowie der kirchenrechtlichen Behandlung Fremdgläubiger im Verhältnis zu den Ketzern. Der zweite Band ist in Vorbereitung.
