Matthew Sweet is the author of Inventing the Victorians, Shepperton Babylon, and The West End Front. He is a presenter for BBC radio and has written and presented documentaries on Wilhelm Reich, silent cinema, eighteenth-century erotic writing, grand hotels, and Doctor Who, among other topics. He is a series consultant on the Showtime series Penny Dreadful, and his journalism appears regularly in Intelligent Life, the Guardian, the Daily Telegraph, and Art Quarterly. He lives in London.
