DAVID BYRD (1926-2013) was an American painter. After serving in World War II he studied at the Ozenfant School of Fine Arts. Rarely seen during his lifetime, his art was deeply shaped by his experience as an orderly working in the psychiatric ward at the Veterans Aff airs (VA) Hospital in Montrose, New York.

DAVID BYRD (1926-2013) war ein amerikanischer Maler. Er diente als Soldat während des Zweiten Weltkriegs und studierte kurz an der Ozefant School of Fine Arts in New York. Gleichwohl er sein gesamtes Leben malte, wurde seine Kunst zu Lebzeiten kaum gezeigt. Er verdiente seinen Lebensunterhalt mit Aushilfsjobs, ab 1958 als Pfleger der psychiatrischen Abteilung im Veteranenkrankenhaus in Montrose.
