Studium der Elektrotechnik an der TU Berlin. 1985-95 wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Fernmeldetechnik der TU Berlin; 1990 Promotion bei Prof. Dr.-Ing P. Noll; ab 1992 Lehrbeauftragter; 1997 Habilitation und Privatdozent. 1996-2000 Projektkoordinator am Heinrich-Hertz-Institut für Nachrichtentechnik Berlin. Seit 2000 Univ.-Prof. und Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Nachrichtentechnik an der RWTH Aachen.
