Yanis Varoufakis, geboren 1961, ist ein griechisch-australischer Wirtschaftswissenschaftler und Autor zahlreicher Buch- und Zeitschriftenpublikationen. Er war Professor für ökonomische Theorie an der Universität von Athen und an der Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs der Universität in Austin, Texas. Von Januar bis Juli 2015 war er Finanzminister der Regierung unter Alexis Tsipras.
