The British initially successfully invaded the country taking sides in a succession dispute between emir Dost Mohammad and former emir Shah Shujah, whom they reinstalled upon occupying Kabul in August 1839. Though it marks an important part of Europe's history in the Middle-East, it often goes over-looked, until this book's release.
