Leiko Ikemura geboren 1951 in Tsu/Mie, Japan. Sie studierte an der staatlichen Universität Osaka und kam 1972 nach Europa, wo sie zunächst in Spanien, dann in Zürich lebte. 1983 wurde sie Stadtzeichnerin in Nürnberg und siedelte anschließend nach Köln über. Seit 1991 ist sie Professorin an der Hochschule der Künste Berlin.
