The Pakistani women comprise more than half of the population in the country but they are less in number in politics. The issues and obstacles which restrict the women's upward growth/mobility exist throughout the globe and in Pakistan. In academia, a less effort is made to find such obstacles which restrict women empowerment in politics. It seems that the kind and nature of challenges for women's political empowerment have not yet been explored by the researchers in an anthropological way in the context of the Punjab province. This study bridges this research gap. The study measures the nature of challenges faced by women members of different political parties in Punjab from these standpoints (1) social impediments, (2) political impediments and (3) quota system.
