Uterine high grade sarcoma and recurrent endometrial carcinoma are aggressive cancers with limited classical treatment options, resulting in a poor prognosis. During her PhD, An Coosemans (°1980) developed dendritic cell immunotherapy in uterine cancer. As a gynaecologist, she is now guiding dendritic cell immunotherapy trials in uterine cancer and is setting up models to study dendritic cell immunotherapy in ovarian cancer. She is married and mother of two daughters.
