The syllabi at the school and college levels in India expect Indian students to learn standard British pronunciation. This book is about a study of the teaching of English pronunciation in some representative Indian higher primary schools. The conclusions of the study are based on observation of teaching in a classroom, interviews of experts, interviews of students and questionnaires given to teachers of English. The findings of the study throw light on the problems in the teaching of English pronunciation in Indian high schools, and also the attitude of Indian teachers and students to the teaching of English pronunciation.
Autorenporträt
Rohit S. Kawale works as Associate Professor and Head, Department of English at Sangamner College, India, affiliated to University of Pune. He has worked on 'The Teaching of English Pronunciation in Indian Higher Primary Schools' for his Minor Research Project funded by the University Grants Commission of India. He has taught English for 29 years.
